The Bathroom Is Finished

I thought I'd never get this bathroom presentable. 


But the potential new owners of this complex are coming through to view each apartment. And I didn't want it unfinished.

I don't keep my towels, etc, in the bathroom. I have an etagere that Israel once rescued for me. It is behind my bedroom door with all my towels, etc.  

By the way, he has split from his wife and moved to Texas. I still talk to him every few weeks though.

I'd like to get a new switch plate when I find one that looks like this one. 

And I really wanted a new towel bar. But I have learned from experience that the studs in this bathroom are few and far between. 

I've already taken out one that wasn't in the wall studs near the tub. I didn't replace it. I hung paintings there instead.

When I say I finished painting, I'll admit it is not perfect. But I was not going to twist myself into a pretzel to finish it like I may have wanted. The first coat of wall paint put me in physical therapy for months for my ankle.

As far as I'm concerned, it is done. Maybe spotty in places, but good enough.
  

I don't know about you, but I like a clock in the bathroom. 

Basically I just took the things from the dining room walls and put them in here. 

I will show you another day what went into the dining room.

So let's look at what was accomplished in this bathroom.

1. New vanity ($299.99 Home Depot)
2. New lighting ($59.00 Home Depot)
3. New faucet ($50 Home Depot)
4. New mirror ($21 The antique mall in Jenks)
5. It's freshly painted 

I paid the previous maintenance guy $130 to install it, and he didn't do the greatest job. But it is what it is. 

What was important to me was to get rid of the outdated vanity, sink and lights. I had a new taller toilet put in when I moved here three years ago.

I didn't want a bunch of clutter, because it is, in my opinion, just not the place for it.

I live in a rented apartment. I didn't have to add these things; I chose to. I've lived here for three years and probably will live here many more.
 
I don't have a lot of money for things like this. I purchased the everything back in December and had him install it, but my ankle problem kept me from finishing what I started until now. 

My advice to you is this: Please don't postpone life, telling yourself, "one day I'll have a better bathroom." Or whatever your dreams may be.

Maybe you want to buy a home. But that may never happen. No one knows what tomorrow will bring. 

It doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles you see in Blog Land. Mine certainly doesn't. Don't let that depress you. I can't afford all those fancy renovations either. Just do what you can.

It is important to be able to say that "you love where you live."
