Cooler Weather & Quilts

We in Oklahoma have been gifted with cooler weather, a real surprise for August. Which is typically a very steamy month.

Of course we had the tornado a few days ago, not a real surprise for Oklahoma. Thank goodness no one was killed.

I need to clean my apartment during these cooler days. But I find myself just wanting to enjoy it.

I'm now reading #8 of Scott Pratt's Joe Dillard series. I typically read a book every other day. Longer if I happen to watch a bit of TV at night. I don't read during the day.

I've found myself looking at quilts on ebay recently. Can't remember what got me started.

I actually purchased a very small quilt that will be here later this week I think. One I will probably use on a table as a centerpiece layer. Cost: $12.95.

Here is an ebay photo...

I just thought it was so cute! But then I'm crazed when it comes to quilts of any variety. I've bid on a few larger ones, but have been outbid.

To me, quilts personify cottage style, cozy comfort and can be used in so many ways. Of course you can put them on your bed.

But then I put them on walls as art, use them to layer, and love seeing them just folded up.

I'm sure it came from using old quilts as a child to make tents and to warm up with when Oklahoma winds were steady and the cold seeped in.

I see them as welcoming arms that hug you with homemade love.

This pot of petunias is still going strong. I just love to gaze at it from my favorite sitting spot on my couch.

I haven't done a lot of trimming of the patio plants because I think there is strength in denseness. Helps protect them from the summer sun when they're crowded together.

My galvanized container of Black-eyed Susans. As I'm driving around town, I see random patches of these flowers in fields. I just love them.

Hope you're seeing cooler weather in your neck of the woods! Have a great day!
