Lawsy.
I came in to fix my breakfast (I slept a little longer this morning) and my cup of coffee and just closed the blinds. It heats up if I don't keep the blinds drawn in the heat of summer.
I'm feeling better. Mornings I have more energy. By around 1-2 p.m. I start dragging a bit. But I'm grateful for the mornings.
I went out and got the doggy diapers for Abi at Petsmart yesterday. Boy, they're expensive. Twelve diapers for $18!
I tried to put one on her and it was like wrestling with a grizzly bear.
How on earth do you get one on a dog? I had no luck whatsoever. And I've diapered many a baby.
She might as well have been slicked down with Vaseline.
So I took her out every little bit. Went to sleep with towels laid down, as I'd just put a fresh sheet on the bed. Didn't bother with much else.
I woke up and she'd peed once on a throw I was covering up with. But that's much better than the night before. I'll throw it in the washer and let it dry over a chair.
At least this is basically just water. Doesn't even smell or look like urine. So doesn't leave a stain.
So here we sit after I've drank my coffee. Abi on my right side as always on the couch. Charlie scrunched up against the left couch arm like he likes.
If Charlie was a baby, he'd want to be swaddled up in a blanket real tight. He prefers to sleep underneath a throw or blanket too.
The air conditioning is purring along. The two ceiling fans are going. And it's semi-dark in here.
I solved my problem of the old ceiling fan in the bedroom. It had those ugly glass bell-looking light bulb covers. They gathered dust like the dickens and were so hard to clean.
I don't know how anyone ever fancied those things being pretty.
A month or so ago I stood up on my bed and took the bulbs out, then took those glass things off.
I almost never use overhead light. So I left the bulbs off. Looks kind of silly. But no more having to dust those things.
Yesterday I saw one of those little Bewick wrens hopping around the patio. They are delightful little birds.
Here's a photo of one I found online:
Audobon Info: In dry thickets and open woods of the west, this is often a very common bird. Pairs of Bewick's Wrens (pronounced like "Buick") clamber about actively in the brush, exploring tangles and bark crevices, waving their long tails about, giving harsh scolding notes at any provocation.
They're very animated and noisy. But cute as can be. You can easily identify them with their white "eyebrow."
Guess I'd better toss that throw in the washer.
Staying in this weekend. What are your weekend plans?
