Shelves Go Out, Lights Come In

I made the decision to give my brown bookshelves to the maintenance man, and to order standing lamps to go in that spot in their place.

I had read most of the books.

I kept the books I had not yet read, along with a few decorating, gardening, and resource books I wanted to keep. The remaining books are stacked in two spots I'll show at a later time.

My daughter came and got the books. She had a place she wanted to take them. The ones she didn't want to keep anyway.

I spent last weekend and beginning of the week looking online at standing lamps. But I kept coming back to the ones you see here.

First, they were the best price at $50+ at Joss & Main. Second, they fit in with the look of the end tables. The industrial, schoolhouse restoration look.

I was surprised at how heavy the bottoms were when I was putting the two lamps together Friday evening. I could barely pick them up.

I really needed more light in my living room. But the end tables really aren't big enough to put table lamps on, since I work from the couch and my laptop sits there day in and day out.

No bottles remain in the boxes. I learned my lesson and took the vintage bottles and moved them before more got broken.

I put them here next to the chair, gathered in this galvanized tray I found last year at the antique mall for a couple of bucks.

While I was at it, I changed up the coffee table a bit.

Forgive the dark pics. There isn't a hint of sun in the sky today.

And since we all know that the pretty pillows were just for show because the dogs knock them to the floor, above is a reality shot.

The dogs reign. Which means what they love is on this couch all the time.

Isn't that right, pupsters? It's all about what you want, because your mama wants you to be happy pupsters.
