The wind has been whipping around the corners and the wind chimes out on the patio are getting a real work out here in Oklahoma.
This is the time of year when it is too soon yet to get outside and work in my gardens. So I have to find things to do indoors.
One of my go-to comfort foods is meatloaf. Plain old-fashioned meatloaf.
On a cold day, I like to whip up a meatloaf. Just smelling it as it cooks is positively heavenly. I always freeze some for another day.
I like to go through my decorating and gardening books.
Maybe sit down with a few gardening books and ponder my spring and summer planting.

When the skies are gray and the wind is blustery, it's a perfect time to light candles. It just makes everything feel so cozy.
I know I feel relaxed when I'm arranging flowers in a pitcher or jar.
So sometimes when I'm at the grocery store or Trader Joe's, I might grab a small bouquet to lift my spirits.
Just walking by those colorful blooms makes me smile.
I like to look out the window and watch the birds.
It's especially nice to sit and relax with a cup of coffee or cocoa, and just watch the birds fly in and out of my fenced patio.
Being inside so much means I get bored with my decor.
So I might look in the closet and find a container, and then create a pleasing vignette.
Or do a simple craft that just takes me 15-20 minutes. I always like to have something new to look at.
And if it serves a purpose, even better!
And last but certainly not least, I so enjoy starting a good book. Just having a stack of books to read makes me a happy camper.
What do you do to fill your cold winter days indoors?
