I suppose I was trying to do things right, as most sensible people who paint things would. I know leaving the doors on while painting is a lazy thing to do.
I wish I'd taken the lazy way out.
Here's the dresser on one side of my bed. The crazy sideboard is on the other.
So here's how it went...
About 4-5 of the new screws simply broke about halfway in, leaving the nubs inside where there was no way to get them out. Down too deep even if I could figure out how.
And it wasn't that they were too long either. They just flat broke. I was certainly glad I had extras.
Some of the screw holes for the hinges I just gave up on and will hope for the best.
What are they making screws out of these days anyway?
Sorry for the dark pics. It's just a dark bedroom. But trust me, you don't want a close up of the above photo anyway. The doors don't even fit right.
So then I put the screws back in that I took out originally. The door simply fell off.
It was a task I never want to repeat, I'll tell you that.
I don't know that I'll ever manage to get them open, the doors that is. I'm not altogether sure why. But they were always a bit screwy.
Should have left well enough alone and painted over the orange with the doors on. Now I know why some of the screws were missing in the first place.
Somebody else lost their patience and gave up before I owned this thing.
